Tips for Optimal Use:
Safety Reminders:
Beyond soaking in a natural hot spring, it’s difficult to imagine a more soothing outdoor experience than enjoying a Leisurecraft Cedar Hot Tub full of steaming hot water, feeling the crisp air around you with nothing but the sound of a crackling fire and the scent of cedar in the background. Investing in a wood fired hot tub is an ideal way to make your space feel like a personal sanctuary while getting back to basics.
Simple and timeless with an elemental design, wood fired hot tubs have a rich history of wellness for the mind, body, and soul, and is still a way that many people reconnect to both themselves and nature today.
The version that we know of today was inspired by the traditional Japanese ofuros – deep soaking tubs crafted from hinoki cypress wood that were intended to be a place of deep spiritual, mental, and physical restoration that cleansed more than just your pores.
Since there is no electricity, no jets or lights, the wood fired hot tub provides a
quiet and aromatic experience.
The Starlight's modern shape, is made with cedar skirting over an aluminum shell and offer more room to stretch out. With a naturally durable and decay-resistant material
like cedar and some basic care, its not uncommon to expect Leisurecraft wood fired hot tubs to last for as long as 20 years.
The back-to-basics design of a wood fired hot tub means that there is no electricity or electric hookups that heat the water. Instead, things get nice and steamy (104-105 degrees F) thanks to a wood fired heater. To operate a wood fired hot tub, you need to chop the wood, stoke the flames, circulate the water with a paddle to evenly distribute the heat, and put logs in the firebox to maintain the heat. If connecting with nature is your thing, and you’re up for the task of embracing the ritual of heating a wood fired hot tub, it’ll offer you an experience unlike any other.
For many of us, it’s the ritual of putting our heart into what we enjoy most, whether a special meal, fancy cocktail, gourmet coffee drink, or pared down wood fired hot tub soak, we know for certain that fast doesn’t always mean better, and sometimes the art of slowing down is exactly what we need most. Wood fired hot tubs are not about instant gratification, and in our view – that’s the whole point. They allow us to slow down and be still for a moment, requiring a ritualistic labor of love to fill and heat the water to whatever temperature you choose to soak in.
Leisurecraft Hot tubs use a submersible hot tub heater made from durable marine grade aluminum that resists corrosion, and surprise, is submerged in the hot tub. An underwater stove might sound oxymoronic, but what makes it work are the above water stove pipe, chimney, and stove door that allow you to build a fire and control air intake, thus controlling the temperature. Bathers and the stove are kept safely apart by the built in wooden fence.
Overall, submersible stoves are often considered the best choice because they heat water twice as fast by making the transfer of heat more efficient.
To bring your Leisurecraft Starlight wood fired hot tub water temperature to 105° F expect a period of two hours, depending on the outside temperatures. Its worth noting that the initial heat time is different from the time it takes to heat back up after it's already been heated. Factors that affect the initial heat time include: the temperature of the water, the outside temperature, the quality of the firewood being used for the fire, the amount of water, if lids or covers are being placed on top while the water heats, and whether you stir the tub with a paddle to circulate the water for even heat distribution among other factors.
Internal wood burning hot tub heaters are known as a “snorkel” stove design. The main distinction is that the internal firebox heats the water by sitting in the tub itself. Internal heaters heat faster because 100% of the heat generated from the firebox transfer directly into the water, making it more efficient to heat. It’s a safer way to heat your wood burning hot tub because the submerged firebox won't burn a person and is also partitioned by a wood fence which prevents contact with the chimney which is very hot and will cause burns.
It is important to use a lid or cover when the hot tub is not in use, as it will reduce heat loss. If you enjoy the process of building a fire and keeping it stoked while anticipating the eventual soak, then a wood fired tub is for you. In other words, it’s about “the process”.
DO not Operate the Wood Heater without filling the Hot Tub with Water!
Operating a Leisurecraft wood fired hot tub is simple, but it takes practice to get the temperature exactly where you like it. Similar to lighting a fire, you’ll need matches, kindling, paper, some bigger pieces of wood, and of course, a source of water and a hose to fill it.
Using a hose, fill your hot tub with water. Water isn’t always abundant at off-grid properties, and we don’t want to see it go to waste, so we recommend filling your tub from a natural water source if you have access to a lake, stream or pond. You can pump it from the source and re-use the water for the garden or watering the grass when your done with it or drain it back into the lake or stream (so long as you aren’t using any chemicals).
Always fill the tub before lighting the fire, or you risk the firebox combusting, which can cause property damage, bodily injury, and a broken hot tub and heater.
Once the tub is full of water, build a fire in the firebox by placing crumpled paper in the bottom of the heater, placing kindling on top of the paper, then adding small dry logs. Note that the wood should be very dry! Light the paper and leave the lid open to allow airflow. A draft will help establish the fire. Once the fires is established, add larger pieces of firewood, controlling the fire with the lid which acts as a dampener controlling the air intake. Check the temperature of the water and once it reaches 10 degrees within your desired bathing temperature (usually 101- 104 °F) stop adding wood, put the lid on, and allow the temperature to rise on its own. Some wood fired hot tub heaters are more efficient than others, requiring more or less wood to establish and maintain the fire. Leisurecraft wood burning hot tubs don’t face a challenge of getting hot, but rather, of becoming too hot, so stop adding wood before it reaches your desired bathing temperature to avoid overheating. If it does overheat, add some cold water with a hose and stir the water with a paddle to evenly distribute.
Maintain the fire to keep the water at the desired temperature. Wood fired hot tubs are designed differently, with some models offering more heat efficiency than others. Leisurecraft wood burning hot tubs are designed to offer superior heat retention and will maintain their temperature throughout the day with just an armful of wood and will drop just 5-10 degrees overnight. Use a cover to help in reducing heat loss at night or when not in use. Put a log on in the morning while you drink your coffee, and by the time your finished eating your toast, it’ll be back up to bathing temperature and ready to enjoy for the day. Leisurecraft wood burning hot tubs are designed intentionally with an internal wood heater for optimal heat properties and safety.
Leisurecraft wood fired hot tubs are extremely easy to maintain if your hot tub is being used occasionally, such as weekend use or at the cabin or cottage. It can be used chemically free and with very simple maintenance. Wood fired hot tubs do not require chemical water treatments like electric hot tubs do because they don’t stand with hot water in them for weeks and months at a time. Japanese onsen bathing involves showering before entering the tub and soaking in chemical free, natural water. Because Leisurecraft hot tubs are inexpensive to heat and the water can be repurposed for irrigation or back into the natural
environment it came from, many of our customers opt for this type of bathing.
To clean, just empty, wipe down with soap and water, rinse and then refill when you’re ready to use it again. To clean the hot tub heater, you can use our aluminum ash scoop to remove the ash from the firebox.

At my age, I've learned to appreciate the simple pleasures, and the Starlight Wood Burning Hot Tub has quickly become one of my favorites. There's something about the smell of the wood burning and the warmth it brings that takes me back to the old days when life felt a little slower, more connected to nature. Its like having a remote cabin retreat, but in my own backyard. The cedar gives it that timeless, rustic look, and it heats up faster than I expected. In about two and a half hours, it's ready to go. The interior is smooth and comfortable, perfect for relaxing these old bones. I also like that it doesn't rely on electricity, just a good pile of wood, which feels very in tune with the natural experience. Installation was straightforward, and now it's part of my daily routine. I couldn't be happier with it.
Thank you, Daniel, for sharing your experience. We’re so glad the Starlight Hot Tub has become a special part of your routine. Enjoy the cozy, off-grid relaxation it brings!
I recently purchased the Starlight Wood Burning Hot Tub, and its been a great addition to our home. The cedar wood gives it a lovely, rustic look, and the wood-burning heater warms the water quickly. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality hot tub with a natural feel.

Our new hot tub has turned our backyard into a personal paradise! The wood-burning feature adds a charming, rustic feel, and it heats up fast. The white cedar exterior is gorgeous and fits right in with our garden decor. Inside, the smooth western red cedar is incredibly comfortable and gives off a natural, luxurious vibe. Installing it was surprisingly simple, and the roll-up cover keeps it spotless when not in use. Plus, we love that it doesn't require electricity, just wood. We're over the moon with our hot tub!

Needed an IR sauna that got properly hot from a normal outlet. This FD-2 does it. Reaches 170F like they say. Easy enough to put together, took maybe an hour and a half. Controls are simple. Does the job. Solaci shipped it fast. Satisfied.
We debated getting a sauna for ages, but pulling the trigger on this Georgian Cabin was the best move! Seriously, the quality is top-notch. You can just feel how solid it is with those thick cedar walls, and man does it stay warm inside, even on chilly nights here. The smell when the cedar heats up? Amazing. We thought the porch was just for looks, but we use it constantly to cool off between sweats. Plenty of room inside on the L-bench for when friends come over too. Gets hot pretty quick and has totally become our little backyard oasis. Shoutout to Solaci Home too, they were super helpful answering our questions before we bought. If you're thinking about it, just do it!
Wanted a straightforward sauna for the backyard. This Luna model seemed right. Arrived okay from Solaci Home. My son helped assemble it; instructions were clear enough, took a few hours. Looks nice, fits well near the patio. We use it a couple of times a week. The heater we got works fine, simple controls. Just a pleasant way to warm up and relax. Does the job.
Quite pleased with this purchase. The folks at Solaci Home were helpful when I wrote with a question before ordering, which was appreciated. The cube design looks very modern, fits in well without being an eyesore. That big glass front is a nice touch, makes it feel open inside. The benches are surprisingly comfortable, especially that curved backrest, makes a difference when you're sitting for a bit. Heats up just fine, provides a good, relaxing heat. It's become a nice way to unwind in the evenings. Feels well put-together. A good addition.
There's something really satisfying about heating this S4 tub with actual wood. It heats up faster than I expected, maybe takes a couple hours from cold to get nice and hot, and doesn't seem to take a huge amount of firewood either. The tub itself feels really well made, sturdy. Just sitting out there soaking in the evening, maybe see a little smoke curling up, it feels very authentic and relaxing. Really enjoying this. Simple to operate the stove part. Had a good experience ordering from Solaci Home too.
Reasonably priced, unique and modern aesthetic. Assembly took professionals 2 days to build. Electric was a little trickier, but that had nothing to do with sauna. Inside is clean and sleek. Keeps it heat to 194 (Huum 7.5). Best investment ever.
Wasn't sure about buying a sauna kit online, thought assembly might be a nightmare. Have to admit, it went smoother than expected. This Luna sauna is built solid, good Canadian cedar. Took an afternoon with a neighbor helping. Got a Harvia heater for it, puts out good traditional heat, takes maybe 45 mins to get up to temp. Looks quite nice with the rounded corners too. Solaci Home shipped it promptly. Pleasantly surprised by the quality for a kit.
We got the CL5G a little while ago and it's honestly been great. Most nights after the kids are settled, we head out there to just relax and talk; its made a real difference. The inside wood is really smooth and the bench shape is comfortable, which is nice. The lighting is pretty too, makes it feel cozy. We like the glass front, doesn't feel closed in. We have the Harvia heater and it gets plenty warm for us. Had one question setting up the wifi thing for the lights, but Solaci Home helped us figure it out quickly. Really happy we decided to get it.
This was such a rewarding project to build. Pay close attention to use the correct pieces in the right places since many of them look similar and are not numbered or dimensioned in the instructions Suggest you start assemble as soon as you unbundle the building materials because boards may warp while stacked over time.
This came on time and they worked with me on the shipping dates. A buddy and myself assembled it over a weekend. It was pretty painless. I love how it looks and functions. The double tier bench is great and I wanted this which is why I picked this model over a standard barrel. Because it is small you can have different heat zones. The floor stays cool enough that I can keep a Bluetooth speaker there while having the sauna bath. Since it is basically for me, I am able to lay down on the bench which is great but it is big enough to fit 3 people on the top bench. I started using it in December and haven’t had any issues. I am actually surprised how much I use this, 3 to 4 times a week. I really like it. I have the Harvia 8kw heater and it is plenty, I only have it dialed halfway and it pushes 200 degrees.
Does exactly what I wanted: gets cold, gets hot. Simple controls, easy to keep clean. Fits well on the patio. Solaci Home was helpful with a question. Good little tub.
Got the CL5G kit. Went together reasonably well over a weekend. Looks sharp out back. Using the Harvia heater and it gets properly hot, holds temp fine. Good communication from Solaci Home during shipping. We're happy with it.
Researched IR saunas extensively, focusing on build quality, heater type, and max temperature achievable on a standard 120V circuit. The Finnmark FD-2 met the criteria. Materials appear high-grade; the cedar is aromatic and the assembly mechanism (panel clips) seems robust and straightforward for DIY setup. Performance is as advertised regarding heat levels (verified near 170F) and heat up time. Features like chromatherapy are included, functional. Overall construction quality appears superior to some other kits examined online. Represents a solid value for a full spectrum unit with these specifications. Communication with Solaci Home regarding order details was efficient.
You know, I wasn't sure if these infrared things really worked, but my back was bothering me so much I figured I'd try it. Got the Finnmark FD-2. Have to say, after using it most days for a month, I really do feel looser. Especially those heaters right on the back panel, they seem to help. Assembly wasn't bad, my daughter helped me clip the panels. Just feels good to sit in there and relax. Solaci Home answered a question I had about the plug, they were nice. Yeah, I'm glad I got it.
Ive been using the Finnmark FD-5 Trinity XL for about a month now, and its been great. It heats up fast, and the combination of infrared and steam gives me options depending on how Im feeling. Most days, I use the infrared for a good sweat and muscle recovery, and if I want more intense heat, I add steam. Assembly was pretty straightforward, but definitely easier with two people. The build quality feels solid. I also like that it doesnt take long to get up to temperature, which is perfect when Im short on time. Overall, its been a great addition to my routine.
