Description

Saunum AIR L 13 Electric Sauna Heater: Advanced Climate Equalization for a Better Sauna Experience

Traditional electric sauna heaters can create a frustrating imbalance inside the sauna room: intense heat collects at head level while cooler, oxygen-rich air stays near the floor. The result is a sauna that can feel harsh, stuffy, and uneven. Saunum AIR L 13 is designed to solve that problem with Saunum’s patented air-blending technology, creating a more balanced, breathable, and enjoyable sauna climate from head to toe.

By drawing hot air and steam from near the ceiling, blending it with cooler air from lower in the room, and circulating it back through the sauna, the AIR L 13 helps reduce stratification and create a softer, more even heat. The result is a sauna experience that feels more comfortable, more breathable, and more rewarding during longer sessions.

With its tall architectural profile, Scandinavian design language, integrated Himalayan salt sphere chamber, and compatibility with the Saunum AirIQ Wi-Fi control system, the AIR L 13 is ideal for customers who want a premium electric sauna heater that offers more than simple heat. This model is designed for sauna rooms from 424 to 565 cu. ft. and is available in both Open Basket and Nordic Black configurations.

Choose the Right Heater Size

Size your heater by adjusted sauna-room volume, not floor area alone. The AIR L 13 is designed for sauna rooms from 424 to 565 cu. ft. Before selecting a heater, account for glass, tile, stone, brick, concrete, and other heat-loss surfaces, which can increase the effective volume of the room. If your adjusted room volume falls between heater sizes, choose the larger model.

For an AIR L 13 installation, plan for a 240V, single-phase electrical supply, a compatible Saunum AirIQ Wi-Fi Control Unit, approximately 180 lbs of sauna stones, and the required installation clearances. Final electrical work and installation should be completed by a qualified professional in accordance with the current Saunum manual and applicable local codes.

Saunum AIR L 13 is for sauna bathers who want softer steam, more even temperatures, improved airflow, and a more refined sauna experience. Please note that this heater requires sauna stones and a compatible Saunum AirIQ control system for operation; these are selected separately at the top of the product page.

Balanced Sauna Climate

All sauna bathers have experienced the same issue: extreme temperature and oxygen differences from the ceiling to the floor. Temperatures can rise dramatically at the upper bench while the lower part of the room stays much cooler, leaving your feet cold and the air around your face feeling overly hot and stale.

Saunum’s patented climate equalizing system is designed to reduce that imbalance. It draws heat and steam from near the ceiling, mixes it with cooler, oxygen-rich air near the floor, and redistributes that blended air throughout the sauna. This produces a more even, breathable climate and helps create a sauna session that is easier to enjoy for longer periods of time.

A More Rewarding Sauna Experience

Features

• For Sauna Rooms from 424-565 cu. ft. – Size the AIR L 13 by adjusted sauna-room volume, accounting for glass, tile, stone, brick, concrete, and uninsulated wood surfaces.
• Patented Air-Mixing Technology – Draws hot air and steam from near the ceiling, blends it with cooler air near the floor, and returns milder, more evenly distributed air to the sauna room for a more balanced bathing experience.
• 3-Speed Heat & Steam Equalization – A whisper-quiet, three-speed climate system lets you adjust airflow and steam distribution to suit your preferred sauna style. Use lower airflow for a classic high-heat sauna feel or increase airflow for a milder, more evenly circulated environment.
• Adjustable Cool-Air Intake – The side-mounted intake valve lets you fine-tune the blended-air temperature. Open the valve gradually for a cooler, milder steam experience, or close it to retain more heat.
• Large Stone Capacity for Softer Steam – Designed for a substantial sauna-stone load, helping create gentler, longer-lasting steam when water is ladled over the stones. Standard U.S. listing language for the AIR L 13 uses approximately 180 lbs of stones. Sauna stones are sold separately.
• Authentic Water-on-Stone Bathing – Built for traditional sauna bathing: add water to the hot stones to create steam and tailor humidity to your preference.
• Himalayan Salt Sphere Chamber – Includes seven Himalayan salt spheres positioned in the airflow path. Salt-sphere use is optional and does not affect the heater’s primary heating or air-equalization function.
• Removable Aroma Tray – A slotted, removable tray accommodates compatible sauna aroma accessories, allowing you to add a fragrance element to your sauna experience.
• Open Basket or Nordic Black Finish – Choose the configuration that suits your sauna design and layout. The Open Basket version has a more exposed stone presentation and requires larger side and front clearances; Nordic Black offers a solid-steel, more compact-clearance design.
• Required AirIQ Wi-Fi Control System – The AIR L 13 is designed to operate exclusively with a compatible Saunum AirIQ control system, selected separately above. AirIQ provides heater operation, temperature settings, fan-speed adjustment, and supported scheduling and Wi-Fi/app functions.
• Scandinavian Design & Premium Components – Features a tall architectural profile, stainless-steel Incoloy heating elements, slotted air-tunnel element protection, and a thoughtfully engineered airflow system.
• UL-Compliant for North American Installation – Complies with UL 875 and CSA C22.2 No. 164 requirements for North American installations.
• 2-Year Residential Warranty – Backed by Saunum’s consumer-use warranty coverage.

Saunum Air L Installation and Operation Manual

Sizing Your Saunum. Choose the heater based on the adjusted volume of the sauna room, not floor area alone. If your sauna has glass, tile, brick, concrete, or stone surfaces, add extra effective volume when sizing. If your sauna has uninsulated log or similarly heat-loss-prone walls, a more powerful heater may be required. If your room falls between sizes, choose the larger heater size.
